What it does

The Comtura 4 TR is the tubeless for those who ride a lot and don't want two sets of wheels. It copes with long rides, sportives and year-round training with very good mileage — it is the best-selling model in the TR road range, for that very reason.

The tread and the compound

Tread in SPC Silica, the house silica compound: less pure grip than the Prima's Grip Silica, but noticeably slower wear. The pattern is smooth in the centre for efficiency, ribbed on the shoulders for cornering grip.

The protection

Under the tread, the Vectran barrier — the same as on the top-of-the-range model. It is what makes the model's reputation: on roads that wear tyres out, a Comtura 4 TR gets through the winter. Casing 210/375 TPI, rubber puncture strip, aramid beads, compatible with hookless rims. In 25, 28 and 30 mm.

What's inside

Vectran barrier The toughest material in the Tufo catalogue: a Vectran layer, a liquid-crystal polymer five times stronger than steel of equal cross-section, against punctures, cuts and blowouts.	Airtight TR rubber Nano-block inner rubber, built into the casing, which holds the air without an inner tube. It is what makes a tyre “tubeless ready”.
SPC Silica compound Tufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance.	Rubber puncture strip A thickness of rubber placed under the tread: whatever gets through the rubber stops there before reaching the casing. It adds to the model's puncture barrier; it does not replace it. Tufo calls it “protective rubber ply”.
