What it does

The Comtura 5 TR is Tufo's entry point to tubeless: the lowest price in the range, without the construction really changing. It is the tyre to fit when you want to try tubeless without committing the price of a pair of top-of-the-range tyres, and the one you then put back on for training.

What you keep, what you leave

You keep the casing 210/375 TPI and the compound SPC Silica of the higher models: the comfort and the mileage are there. What changes is the puncture protection — a standard layer instead of the Vectran barrier. In practice, that is more than enough for everyday riding; it is in racing, on sharp roads, that the Vectran justifies its extra cost.

Fitting

Aramid beads, compatible with hookless rims, usual tubeless fitting with preventive sealant. In 25 and 28 mm, black or beige sidewalls.

What's inside

Standard puncture protection An extra layer of rubberised casing under the tread: a sufficient barrier against most punctures, without hurting efficiency.	Airtight TR rubber Nano-block inner rubber, built into the casing, which holds the air without an inner tube. It is what makes a tyre “tubeless ready”.
SPC Silica compound Tufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance.	Rubber puncture strip A thickness of rubber placed under the tread: whatever gets through the rubber stops there before reaching the casing. It adds to the model's puncture barrier; it does not replace it. Tufo calls it “protective rubber ply”.
