What it does
The Thundero HD is the Thundero for heavy loads. Same tread, different casing : it is made for loaded bikepacking, larger riders, higher pressures and tracks that cut.
The HD casing
Instead of the fine 210/375 TPI casing, a 130/255 TPI casing with thicker fibres. Fewer threads, but each one larger: the result is a tyre that deforms less and takes more punishment, at the cost of about thirty grams and a little suppleness. It is the right choice whenever the bike carries panniers or the terrain cuts.
The rest
Tight-cube centre tread and three rows of shoulder knobs, sidewalls nylon, puncture-protection belt, aramid beads, compatible with hookless rims. In 36, 40, 44 and 48 mm.
What's inside
 An extra layer of rubberised casing under the tread: a sufficient barrier against most punctures, without hurting efficiency. |
 Nanostructured silica tread compound, tailored to each discipline. Its strong point is grip, especially in the rain. |
 Nano-block inner rubber, built into the casing, which holds the air without an inner tube. It is what makes a tyre “tubeless ready”. |
 A nylon layer on the sidewalls of gravel and XC tyres: cut protection and stability at low pressure. |

Fitting it
Airtight rim tape, tubeless valve, then preventive sealant: Tufo Anti-Puncture Sealant — Tubeless Ready 50 ml (one wheel) or the 220 ml bottle. Aramid beads, can be fitted on hooked rims as well as hookless rims.
