What it does

The Comtura Duo is the versatile inner-tube tyre of the Comtura family: a racing tyre that accepts training. Foldable, it fits in a travel bag; fitted, it stands comparison with more expensive racing tyres on the one ground that really matters, service life.

The construction

Casing 120/240 TPI, tread compound SPC Silica, and above all the Vectran barrier under the tread: that is the model's selling point. This fibre stops punctures without adding the stiffness of a thick puncture strip, and it steadies the tyre in hard cornering.

Who it's for

For wheels with tyre and inner tube — conventional hooked rims — and for those who don't want to go tubeless. In 25 and 28 mm, to be fitted with a light inner tube: a Tufo TPU inner tube of 50 g saves nearly a hundred grams per wheel over an ordinary butyl tube.

Vectran barrier The toughest material in the Tufo catalogue: a Vectran layer, a liquid-crystal polymer five times stronger than steel of equal cross-section, against punctures, cuts and blowouts.	SPC Silica compound Tufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance.
Rubber puncture strip A thickness of rubber placed under the tread: whatever gets through the rubber stops there before reaching the casing. It adds to the model's puncture barrier; it does not replace it. Tufo calls it “protective rubber ply”.
