What it does
The Comtura Aero is the racing version of the Duo: 215 g in 25 mm, a profile designed to disturb the airflow around the wheel as little as possible, with the same demand on efficiency. It is the clincher for race days.
What sets it apart from an ordinary racing tyre
The weight of a competition tyre is usually saved on protection: you remove the layer, thin the tread, and cross your fingers. The Comtura Aero keeps the Vectran barrier. It therefore remains usable for more than one Sunday a season, which is not trivial at the price of a racing tyre.
The construction
Casing 120/240 TPI, rubber compound SPC Silica, rubber puncture strip, folding beads. In 25 and 28 mm.
What's inside
 The toughest material in the Tufo catalogue: a Vectran layer, a liquid-crystal polymer five times stronger than steel of equal cross-section, against punctures, cuts and blowouts. |
 Tufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance. |
 A thickness of rubber placed under the tread: whatever gets through the rubber stops there before reaching the casing. It adds to the model's puncture barrier; it does not replace it. Tufo calls it “protective rubber ply”. |
