What it's for
For deep-profile rims, when the valve doesn't stick out enough to connect a pump. In the shop, it is called “Tufo Valve Extension”.
How it fits
The extender screws in between the valve body and its core : unscrew the core, screw the extender onto the body, then screw the core back on at the top of the extender. So it's the core that sticks out of the rim, and you inflate exactly as usual — including to inject sealant.
The detail that matters
It is fitted with an O-ring at the junction: this prevents the slow leak that cheap metal-on-metal screw-on extenders produce. Aluminium, in 21, 28 or 31 mm, sold individually.
