The rim tape
A nylon-PVC tape only 0.5 mm thick: light yet tough, its elasticity and flexibility make fitting quick. Once the tyre is inflated, it shields the inner tube from the spoke nipples and the edges of the rim bed, up to 120 psi (8.3 bar).
