What it does

The Comtura Prima TT is the fastest road tyre in the Tufo catalogue, and it looks for nothing else. 205 g in 700 × 28C : it is a time-trial, triathlon and fast-circuit race tyre, not a winter tyre. On a smooth course, it gains what others lose in deformation.

The casing

Its distinctive feature is a casing 400/665 TPI — almost double the thread density of a usual race tyre. The more fine threads, the less rubber between them, and the less energy the casing dissipates as it deforms. Combined with the Liquid Rubberimpregnation, it explains most of the tyre's efficiency.

What protection remains

Tufo didn't remove protection to save the last grams: the tread Grip Silica keeps wet grip, and a standard puncture-protection belt remains under the tread. It is the useful minimum so that a puncture fifteen kilometres from the finish remains bad luck and not a certainty. Compatible with hookless rims.
