The rim tape
Woven cotton with a high-strength resin coating: it holds 145 psi without deforming and takes the heat the rim builds up under braking, where PVC creeps. The adhesive back keeps it in place while the tyre goes on, and the pre-formed eyelet passes a Presta or Schrader valve.
