What it does
The Hi-Composite Carbon is the house's versatile road tubular: fast enough for racing, durable enough for training. It is the model that has contributed most to Tufo's reputation among French cycle dealers, and it is still in the catalogue for that reason.
Where its name comes from
From two things. A composite puncture-protection layer placed under the tread, and a high-carbon tread compound. The first protects, the second resists abrasion — which allows a thinner tread. And a thinner tread deforms less with each wheel revolution: less rolling resistance, without losing longevity. That is the model's central compromise.
Construction and versions
Casing 120/240 TPI, rubber compound SPC Silica, pressure up to 12 bar in 23 mm. It comes in 23, 25 and 28 mm, in black or beige sidewalls, and as a tubular-clincher (C Hi-Composite Carbon) for hooked rims.

 An extra layer of rubberised casing under the tread: a sufficient barrier against most punctures, without hurting efficiency. |
 Tufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance. |

Glued, or fixed with Tufo double-sided tape: Tufo Double-Sided Tape for road tubulars — no drying time, you ride straight away. Inside, the Tufo Anti-Puncture Sealant — Standard injected through the valve before the first ride seals punctures up to 5 mm. This model also exists as a tubular-clincher, which fits without glue on an ordinary hooked rim.
